Keep in mind that the new area is not under controll of the usfs but rather state of AK.

With reluctance I'm going to have to agree with taxman. I think that the forest service would throw a fit if we started hauling a bunch of plywood and pallets up there, (I know, I know; I'd love to build some PROPER fortifications myself...). Just a few years ago they did a big cleanout of the area and would not be happy with us if we undid all their hard work.
That said, if you are feeling particularly industrious, I think we might be able to get away with trenches and foxholes, so long as they are now visible from the trail.
We may be able to revisit this question at a future point. I have friends in JPD who I am trying to entice into joining us (at least on occasion). If they can be persuaded to come and play, we might be in a better position to ask if we can build more (semi)permanent structures.

No offence intended man, but if you would read the thread, your question would be answered. Included in this thread are explicit written directions on about the 3rd or 4th post.

Well, now that Y'all have seen it, tell your friends about it. This is a bloody HUGE battle area, the more people we can get, the more fun it will be. If we can get 50 or more people, we can start making use of larger and larger parts of our new playground. See y'all on the mountain:)

The directions to the new site are as follows:
From downtown or the valley, go to lemon creek area. Exit Glacier hwy., onto Davis ave. at Lemon Creek bridge. Go down Davis Ave. towards the prison. From Davis, turn left onto Mountain Ave., and go straight to the end of the street; the trailhead is there.
The trail (switzer loop trail) is an old logging road. About 400 yards up the trail, the trail forks. Take the LEFT fork. The base area is a small clearing about 150 feet up from the fork. The new battlefield is the woods on the far side of the clearing, and, if we wish it; the ENTIRE face of Heinzleman ridge.
Spread the word ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; we have a great new place to play!!!

I may or may not be able to make it. Please try not to schedule games during working hours, and during the week. Most of FOD are adults with jobs...

No, it wasn't very icy. The area under the trees is pretty well protected. Even the trail up wasn't bad.
